If you've ever watched a Hollywood action film with a glamorous casino scene, chances are the game being played at that green-felt table was baccarat. It carries a certain prestige. But what many people don't realise is that baccarat is actually one of the easiest casino games to learn, and its odds are among the best compared to other casino games.
At Soju88, we bring the baccarat experience — once reserved for physical casinos — directly to your screen. With over 24 live tables running at all times, professionally trained dealers, and HD cameras capturing every card movement, it genuinely feels like sitting at the edge of a high-end casino floor, even when you're relaxing on your own sofa.
Baccarat has long been the top casino game among Asian communities, and Malaysia is no exception. There are several reasons why this game continues to hold a special place among Malaysian players from all walks of life.
First, baccarat requires no advanced technical skill. There's no need to memorise complex strategies like those in poker or blackjack. You simply choose from three outcomes — Banker, Player or Tie — and the result plays out automatically according to fixed rules. This sets it apart from most other card games, where a player's decisions can directly influence the outcome.
Second, baccarat's RTP (Return to Player) is among the highest of any casino game. The Banker bet carries an RTP of 98.94%, while the Player bet comes in at 98.76%. In the long run, that means you lose less than 2% of your total wagers — far better odds than a typical slot machine.
Third, live baccarat at Soju88 has a genuine social element. You can interact with the dealer via live chat, and the same table is typically shared with players from all over Malaysia. Some join from Kuala Lumpur, others from Johor Bahru, Penang and Sabah — all gathered at the same virtual table.
Baccarat rules are straightforward to remember. Each card carries a specific value: cards numbered 2 through 9 are worth their face value. 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth zero. Aces are worth 1. A hand's total is determined by the last digit of the combined value — for example, a hand of 7 and 8 (totalling 15) is worth 5, not 15.
The hand closest to a value of 9 wins. If either side is dealt a value of 8 or 9 from the first two cards, it is called a "natural" and the game ends immediately. In all other cases, fixed rules determine whether a third card is dealt — this happens automatically and is not a decision left to the player.
This is what makes baccarat so straightforward and relaxing — there are no complex decisions to make once the game is underway. Simply choose where you want to place your bet, and the dealer takes care of the rest.

RTP is a long-term average value. The outcome of each round is independent and random.
Practical tips from experienced players — not a guarantee of winning, but a smarter way to play.
Statistically, Banker wins approximately 45.8% of rounds compared to Player at 44.6%. Even with the 5% commission, the Banker bet still carries a higher RTP over the long run.
The Tie bet offers an attractive payout (8:1), but the house edge of 14.36% is steep. Use Tie as an occasional side bet rather than your main strategy.
Before sitting down at a table, decide on a win target (the profit at which you'll walk away) and a loss limit (the maximum you're willing to lose). Sticking to both is the foundation of a healthy playing experience.
Road maps (previous result patterns) are interesting to follow, but each baccarat round is independent. Past results have no bearing on future outcomes. Use the road map as a light reference, not as a definitive prediction tool.
The soju88 mobile app delivers lower lag compared to a regular browser. For live baccarat where timing matters, the app is your best option — so you never miss the betting window before time runs out.
Soju88 VIP members receive weekly cashback of up to 3% of their total wagers. For active baccarat players, this can add up to a significant amount over the course of a month, effectively reducing the house edge even further.
